Winners For 2022 Scone Stand-Alone Day

The Scone stand-alone meeting will be held this weekend (14th May). The course proper was rated a Soft 5 on Thursday and with light showers leading up to the weekend, Scone is likely to border on Soft/Heavy condition on raceday.

Authentic Jewel is a genuine chance in the Denise Joy Stakes (Scone Race 6, 1100m). This Brad Widdup-trained filly has come back in great order winning two barrier trials before her first-up 3rd behind Sacrimony and Queen Bellissimo a fortnight ago. The  3YO can handle any track conditions and she will be fitter when second-up on Saturday. Jay Ford will once again take Authentic Jewel straight to the lead and she could prove hard to catch. Authentic Jewel is great value as she’s currently at $11.00 fixed odds.

James Cummings has decided to miss the Doomben 10,000 and instead start the very promising Andermatt in the Luskin Star Stakes at Scone (Scone Race 7, 1300m). The Snitzel gelding is exceptional on wet tracks, winning both starts (1100m) this campaign by big margins on tracks rated Heavy 10. Godolphin has aimed the 4YO at the Stradbroke Handicap so he is ready to step up to 1300m third-up. Andermatt has only been allotted 54.5kg and Rachel King will settle just behind the leading bunch. Given his class and his light weight, Andermatt looks pretty hard to beat.

Kris Lees has Never Talk peaking at the right time for the Dark Jewel Classic (Scone Race 8, 1400m). The 4YO mare did a good job in the Hawkesbury Crown last start coming from last to be beaten only half a length by Exotic Ruby. Down in class on Saturday and the more spacious track will suit her better. Never Talk is rock hard fit and she also has a good record on Soft and Heavy tracks. Jason Collett will settle somewhere mid-field and Never Talk will let down strongly in the straight.
