Winners For 2023 Tancred Stakes Day

The Tancred Stakes meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday (25th Mar). The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with showers forecast for Sydney over the next couple of days, Rosehill will be racing in the Soft range on raceday.

New Zealand visitor Full Of Sincerity looks well placed in the Tulloch Stakes (Sydney Race 3, 2000m). The 3YO ran a mighty 3rd behind Sharp ‘N’ Smart in the NZ Derby last start and dropping back to 2000m with a three week break should suit. He is very fit and he handles any track conditions. A strong rider like Nash Rawiller should also suit. Rawiller will put the gelding to sleep at the back of the field and watch Full Of Sincerity mow this lot down the Rosehill straight.

The VRC Oaks runner-up Pavitra could surely run out a strong 2000m and takes out the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (Sydney Race 7, 2000m). The Richard & Will Freedman-trained filly resumed with a 5th over an unsuitable 1300m in the Millie Fox Stakes before she produced an explosive four-length victory over a smart field in the Kembla Grange Classic. The 3YO could handle the Soft track and Chad Schofield will once again be on board. Schofield will go forward and sit just behind likely leader Soul Choice and Pavitra is the one they all have to catch.

English import Sir Lucan is backing up from a close 3rd in the Manion Cup last week and he could be the one to watch out in the Tancred Stakes (Sydney Race 8, 2400m). This gelding is lightly raced and is still on the up. Sir Lucan has been having a long break since the 2021 Melbourne Cup and first-up on the 4th March, he took out the Listed Randwick City Stakes brilliantly. And the softish track will suit. Regan Bayliss will go to the front and settle outside stablemate Knights Order and Sir Lucan could prove hard to catch,
