Winners For 2023 The Ingham Day

The Ingham Charity Raceday will be held at Royal Randwick this Saturday (9th Dec). The course proper was rated a Soft 5 on Thursday and with warm and sunny weather in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Randwick will be racing on a Good track on raceday.

Debut winner Deep Joy could make it back to back wins by taking out the Inglis Nursery (Sydney Race 5, 1000m). The Deep Field filly won a 900m Newcastle maiden on debut sprinting her last 600m in a fast 33.25 secs. Stepping up to 1000m is a natural progression and winning jockey Dylan Gibbons will once again be on board. Gibbons will take advantage of barrier 2 and box seat behind the leader and Deep Joy is the one to beat.

Godolphin-owned stallion Vilana has been racing against strong oppositions like Think About It, I Am Me and Magic Time and the slight drop in grade in The Ingham should suit him better (Sydney Race 7, 1600m). The 5YO is rock hard fit being fifth-up on Saturday and he is ready to step up to the mile. He loves Randwick having won three times from four starts at the venue. Adam Hyeronimus will go forward and sit just being the leaders from the nice gate (6) and Vilana will charge home strongly. Currently at $11.00 in the fixed odds market, Vilana represents a value bet.

Emerging sprinter Insurrection deserves his favouritism in the Razor Sharp Handicap (Sydney Race 8, 1200m). Michael Freedman has been placing this 4YO to perfection as he has won six times and placed a further seven times from eighteen starts. Insurrection won The Warra brilliantly last start leading from start to finish and stepping up to 1200m as a more mature horse should be perfect for him. The Russian Revolution gelding loves Randwick and Zac Lloyd knows the horse well. From barrier 8, Lloyd will go to the front and sit outside Frosty Rocks and Insurrection could prove hard to catch.
