Winners For 2024 Golden Eagle Day

The Golden Eagle meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday (2nd Nov). The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with light showers in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Rosehill will be racing on a Good track on raceday.

I Am Me looks the horse they all have to catch in the Russell Balding Stakes (Sydney Race 7, 1300m). The 6YO mare has come back in terrific order this campaign winning her first two races in the Concorde Stakes and The Shorts. And she wasn’t disgraced in The Everest last start beaten only 3.2 lengths on the line. She loves Rosehill having won three times from four starts at the venue. The in-form Zac Lloyd will take over the rein and from barrier 6, Lloyd will box seat behind likely leader Coal Crusher and I Am Me is going to run away from them in the straight.

Class mare Stefi Magnetica could be the one to beat in the Golden Eagle (Sydney Race 8, 1500m). A Stradbroke Handicap winner in the winter, the 4YO resumed with a close 2nd, sprinting well fresh in The Shorts. And she did keep coming when finishing only 2.3 lengths from Bella Nipotina in The Everest, indicating she’s looking for more ground. The 1500m on Saturday looks really suitable. Drawn beautifully in barrier 4, Zac Lloyd will settle mid-field with a cosy run and Stefi Magnetica will wind up strongly down the Rosehill straight.

The English import Relentless Voyager is the interesting runner in the Rosehill Gold Cup (Sydney Race 9, 2000m). This Ciaron Maher-trained 5YO has strong English form finishing 2nd in the Group 3 Glorious Stakes before an 8th in the strong Ebor Handicap. First up over 2000m should suit and The Everest winning jockey Craig Williams will be on board. Williams will sit somewhere mid-field and Relentless Voyager will showcase his staying prowess in the run home.
