Greg McFarlane Could Face Ban For Alleged Stomach Tubing

Rosehill trainer Greg McFarlane could face a 12 month ban under the new Australian Racing Board rules if he is found guilty by Racing NSW stewards for attempting to stomach tube Ferocimo only hours before it was due to start at Rosehill on Saturday.

Ferocimo was scratched from the P & F Avellino 50TH Anniversary Hcp (1500m) after stewards raided McFarlane’s Rosehill stable, finding the horse standing with a staff member and a tube placed in its nose.

McFarlane told stewards he had been stomach tubing other runners in his stable that had galloped this morning and then, by his own admission, stupidly decided to tube Ferocimo.

McFarlane is allowed to continue training but his horses are not allowed to accept in any races until the matter is resolved.

A date is yet to be set for when the inquiry will resume.
