The Chris Waller-trained Arinosa will not take her place in Saturday’s Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) due to a foot abscess.
Connections say the abscess is only a minor one and bypassing the Stradbroke Handicap with the mare should ensure she takes her place in the Group 1 Tattersalls Tiara (1400m) in two weeks time.
“I want to make sure she she is right for the Tatt’s Tiara rather than just try and patch her up this week,” Waller said.
“In hindsight, it was probably brewing last start.”
Arinosa finished fourth as a short price favourite last start behind Sookie in the Glenlogan Park Stakes at Doomben.
With Arinosa out, the Anthony Cummings-trained Fontelina should now get a run in Stradbroke when final field is to be declared tomorrow. Academus is likely to be the 1st emergency follow by Conservatorium.
