Champion Trainers Take Up Residence At Royal Randwick

The Australian Turf Club (ATC) is pleased to announce two champion trainers will join the training ranks at Royal Randwick for the new season beginning August 1, 2013.

Caulfield based Peter Moody and Matamata’s John Sargent will acquire 24 boxes each to boost their successful Sydney operations.

Moody will relocate his satellite stable from Rosehill Gardens while Sargent is relocating his satellite stables from Warwick Farm.

Both trainers will continue operating their current bases outside of Sydney, however Sargent will also relocate from New Zealand to Sydney.

Peter Moody said, “The time has come to expand our base in Sydney and I look forward to returning to Headquarters where I started out working for TJ Smith.”

John Sargent said, “I look forward to setting up at Randwick in August after a successful satellite season and moving across to Sydney”.

The vacancies come on the back of New Zealand based Graeme Rogerson’s departure from the Sydney training ranks on July 31, the end of the current season.

Additional announcements include Adelaide based trainer Sam Kavanagh, who will relocate to Sydney for the new season to set up a permanent base at Rosehill.

Meanwhile an application to Racing NSW for a Randwick based partnership between living legend Bart Cummings and his grandson and current foreman James will be lodged for the new season.

“The new racing season promises quality and competitive racing due to the strength and diversity of the Sydney training talent,” said ATC’s Matt Rudolph.
