There was a bidding war between Coolmore Stud and David Ellis this morning at the Karaka Yearling Sale in New Zealand.
Their target was Lot 63, a half-brother to Group I winner Gathering and three-quarter brother to Group III winner Florentina. The colt is by champion stallion Fastnet Rock out of Peintre Celebre mare Celebria.
Coolmore emerged triumphant with a winning bid of $1.975 million and Coolmore spokesperson Tom Magnier later confirming the colt would be trained by David Hayes.
