Crystal Ball Punting Piece For The 2013 All-Aged Stakes

The Dream but 100/1

Black Caviar, should she stay sound, is a confirmed runner for the Group One 1200m T.J. Smith Stakes at Randwick. She will probably start at $1.20 or less in this race. There is a lot of talk about potential match ups, maybe a dream field and a clash of the titans should Peter Moody and the Black Caviar team extend the mighty mare out to 1400m for the All-Aged Stakes. This is a potential dream race. Should Black Caviar run in the All-Aged Stakes (a big longshot, but it is fun to think about), what would her starting price be if the field looked like this?

All-Aged Stakes 1400m

Hay List

Black Caviar

More Joyous

Pierro

Proisir

All Too Hard

Snitzerland

Rebel Dane

Secret Admirer

Rain Affair

Steps In Time

Red Tracer

These horses are all up and running and are all a realistic chance to make it to this race. It would be the best field seen on a Sydney track for many many years. So what would the market look like, based on their form as of right now? Black Caviar would of course still be favourite; but surely she couldn’t be $1.05. How about…

Black Caviar $1.50

Pierro $6.50

More Joyous $9.00

All Too Hard $10.00

Snitzerland $14.00

Hay List $16.00

Proisir $21.00

Rain Affair $31.00

Rebel Dane $35.00

Red Tracer $41.00

Steps In Time $45.00

Secret Admirer $51.00

Who would you back? Who would you lay? As mentioned it is highly unlikely Black Caviar will be stretched out to this distance, but it is great to think about. $1.50 for the best horse in the world is great odds right? But how about $21.00 for Proisir or $6.50 for Pierro? Even More Joyous at $9 is value not to mention double figure odds about All Too Hard and Snitzerland.

Dreams can come true occasionally, so let’s all hope / prey the stars, the planets and the owners and trainers all line up and at least some of these magnificent horses get to this race. But don’t hold your breath…
