There has been strong support from trainers for Saturday’s Black Caviar Lightning Stakes at Flemington.
Nominations include group winners Golden Archer, Satin Shoes, Shamexpress, First Command, Moment of Change and Go the Knuckle. Last year’s Blue Diamond Stakes winner Samaready is also entered for the race but is likely to be saved for the Typhoon Tracy Stakes at Moonee Valley on February 22.
”Next question,” was Clarry Conners response to being asked how his confidence levels were ahead of his mare Satin Shoes taking on Black Caviar in Saturday’s Group 1 Lightning Stakes.
”If we can run second to Black Caviar and get a Group 1 placing, then that will be ok,” Conners said.
He might not be confident of victory in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes but as Conners puts it ”if you’re not in it you can’t win it and anything can happen on the day.”
Craig Williams has taken the ride on Satin Shoes.
All going well on Saturday, Conners said Satin Shoes will proceed towards the $1 million Group 1 Lexus Newmarket Handicap at Flemington on March 9.
