After her ultra impressive Queensland Oaks victory, Gondokoro has surged up the betting charts for Saturday’s Queensland Derby.
With trainer Pat Carey declaring on Sunday that the Queensland Derby is now a definite consideration after the filly came through the Oaks without issue, Gondokoro is now fourth favourite for the Derby.
TAB tightened Gondokoro from $16 to $9 for the Derby, which has Survived as the $3.20 favourite.
Only three Queensland Oaks winners have progressed to complete the Derby double in the past 40 years.
Analie was the first back in 1973 followed in 1992 by Royal Magic with Sans Rival the latest in 2008.
The Bart Cummings-trained filly Dariana won the Derby in 2010 after staying in the stalls a week earlier in the Queensland Oaks.
Carey said a final decision would be made on Wednesday after monitoring the filly over the next couple of days.
