Please be advised of the following interstate steward extracts for Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Race 2:-
Horse No.7 – IRELAND’S TEARDROP (Eagle Farm 1/6/13): Bumped at start. Lost near hind plate during race.
Race 3:-
Horse No.12 – DELAGOS (Morphettville 27/4/13): Commenced to over race near the 1600m and proved difficult to restrain.
Race 4:-
Horse No.18 – SUPREME WARRIOR (NZ) (Sandown 15/5/13): Began awkwardly. Rider said was instructed to ride mount from its wide barrier back in the field with cover in an attempt to allow the gelding to settle as mount has a tendency to over-race when ridden forward. Rider explained that after beginning awkwardly he chose to settle mount near the rear of the field. He added that mount had a tendency to over-race early but settled well mid-race. He advised that he began to ride the gelding along leaving the 600m however mount was not comfortable in the rain affected going down the hill. He added that he chose to stay on the inside rounding the home turn and save ground when following Half His Luck, and that after riding the gelding along in the early part of the straight he then had difficulty in seeking clear running due to poor visibility before having to steady passing the 100m when disappointed for clear running. Trainer confirmed the instructions given and expected horse to race well if the gelding settled. Stewards notified rider that his riding concerned them, in particular his lack of initiative to take a run between Half His Luck and Dash Divine near the 250m and then his lack of vigour on the gelding in the straight between the 200 and 100m when he obtained running before that run closed resulting in the gelding then being held up for clear running to the finishing line. Trainer reprimanded for failing to notify change of tactics.
Race 5:-
Horse No.3 – UNCHAIN MY HEART (Flemington 18/5/13): Bumped and became unbalanced near the 3000m.
Horse No.5 – THUBIAAN (USA) (Flemington 18/5/13): Change of tactics – To be ridden off the pace – Settled on the pace.
Race 6:-
Horse No.2 – RAREFIED (Eagle Farm 11/5/13): Eased near the 500m. Rider explained mount never handled the track conditions.
Horse No.15 – EMBARK (Morphettville 11/5/13): Became awkwardly placed on heels near the 900m and shifted out. Taken out near the 200m.
