Evergreen New Zealand star King Mufhasa may not have run his last race afterall.
The rising nine-year-old is back in work after his racing future looked bleak after he bled and failed to finish in the Champions’ Mile at Sha Tin in Hong Kong in May.
Co-owner David Archer told NZ Racing that the 10-time G1 winner could be back in action at the Hawke’s Bay spring carnival at Hastings.
“Mufhasa is in superb condition and after input from all of his vets in Melbourne, Hong Kong and here in New Zealand, we are allowing him to train up for a possible last campaign which could see him at Hastings for the Makfi,’’ Archer said.
“We will be monitoring his training, throat and well-being daily and he will only start again if all is 100 per cent.
“He is loving his training regime and does not want to spend his time eating grass just yet.”
