Winner of last Saturday’s Roy Higgins Quality (2600m) at Flemington, Kutchinsky has been penalised 1kg for the Adelaide Cup.
The Danny O’Brien-trained gelding shown good stamina coming from mid-field rounding the home turn and started to quickly reel in the leaders, hitting the front at the 100m before racing away to score by one-a-half lengths over Dame Claire and Tuscan Fire
Coming off a well-beaten fifth in the Mornington Cup behind Tuscan Fire, O’Brien said Kutchinsky had genuine excuses last time around and would now head towards the Group 2 Adelaide Cup (3200m) on Monday, March 11. Kutchinsky will now carry 55kg in the Adelaide Cup.
