The picturesque Riverina town of Gundagai will come alive this weekend as TAB Saddle-Up Sundays joins forces with Gundagai-Adelong Race Club for their signature autumn event, Gundagai Cup on Sunday 7th April.
With an impressive eight races, drawing entries from across the Southern Districts, coupled with the club’s Ladies Day promotion, the day offers omething for the whole family.
Gundagai-Adelong Race Club chairman, Jim Saunderson, is looking forward to the weekend’s festivities: “We want the Gundagai Cup to be our autumn feature,” Mr Saunderson said. “It’s Gundagai’s answer to the Sydney Autumn Carnival.”
A promising line-up of stayers from the Southern Districts have nominated for the $30,000 Gundagai Cup. And as the feature race provides a good platform towards the Listed-Wagga Gold Cup worth $140,000 in May, the Gundagai Cup’s significance is not lost on industry locals.
With the Ladies Day promotion headlining the on-track festivities, the Gundagai community has provided overwhelming support and contributions towards the Fashions on the Field prizes.
There will be $500 gift vouchers on offer for the two categories of ‘Most Cutting Edge Racewear’ and ‘Most Elegant Racewear’. Along with complimentary admission and a drink for all the ladies, it’s another great reason for ladies to frock up and enjoy a great day out with their family and friends.
Between the races there will be plenty of entertainment with a live band keeping the crowd entertained and a jumping castle, merry-go-round and face painting provided for the kids.
