Messara Yet To Commit Ortensia To A Clash With Black Caviar

While happy with the way Ortensia performed and came through her trial at Rosehill on Tuesday, her trainer Paul Messara is still yet to commit to a clash with Black Caviar, in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes at Flemington on Saturday week.

”She worked home nicely and I was pleased with her effort,” said Messara of Ortensia’s trial where she finished second behind Gerald Ryan’s speedy mare Mrs Onassis.

”She has pulled up well and is great but I just want to see how she does over the next few days before making up my mind about running in the Lightning.”

Messara said he would leave it until the weekend before making a decision either way.

Meanwhile on a predicted 37 degree Melbourne day, where else would Black Caviar head but to Port Phillip Bay.

”It’s a nice day for a swim and she loves it down there,” trainer Peter Moody said.
