The Paul Messara trained Mic Mac has been allotted top weight in Saturday’s feature event, the $100,000 Listed Civic Stakes, carrying 59kg in the field of eight quality runners.
Mic Mac, a seven-year-old which is resuming after a recent injury setback, is the highest rated horse in the field with a rating of 104; just two points above Joseph Pride’s See the World on 102 with 58kg.
Record breaking aspirant Chris Waller has three horses engaged in the Civic Stakes: Said Com (55.5kg), Nocturnelle (54kg) and Disciple (54kg), in a bid to maximise his chances at beating the so far onerous Sydney metropolitan training record.
Race 1, The Australian Turf Club Handicap (2YO) features Bull Point, trained by Gai Waterhouse and Eurozone, trained by Bart Cummings, which each won on debut and appear to be the main contenders among the juveniles.
Race 6 on the eight race card features Eigelstein which had no luck in the Rosehill straight on Monday, but the quick turnaround suggests that this Waller runner may be a strong lead for punters.
Race 1 begins at 12.20pm on Saturday, with race 5 the feature event Civic Stakes starting at 2.40pm.
Rosehill was rated a heavy (8) at the time of acceptances with the rail out 4m.
