Monash Stakes Winner Pago Rock Bleeds From Nostril

Pago Rock’s convincing Sir John Monash Stakes win on Saturday at Caulfield had some gloss taken off it after the veterinary surgeon reported the five-year-old bled from its offside nostril.

Racing Victoria chairman of stewards Terry Bailey said Pago Rock must trial over 1000 metres in front of a steward before it is allowed to race again.

David Hayes, who registered his 150th win for the season when Pago Rock won the listed race, has set Pago Rock for the Peter Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 17.

Hayes said the main goal for Pago Rock is the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield in late September.
