Star mare Amelia’s Jewel is set to change trainers, joining Annabel Neasham’s stable after her upcoming run in The Goodwood at Morphettville on May 11.
This decision follows her recent second-place finish in WA’s $5 million slot race, The Quokka.
Under the set weights and penalties conditions of The Goodwood, Amelia’s Jewel will carry 56.5kg due to her Group 1 status, resulting in a 4kg penalty.
Trainer Simon Miller plans to fly her to Melbourne and then Adelaide to prepare for the race.
Amelia’s Jewel’s move adds to the anticipation of The Goodwood, one of the highlights of the Adelaide Racing Carnival, featuring four $1 million Group 1 races.
Nominations for The Goodwood close on Thursday, May 2.
