No Blue Diamond Or Golden Slipper For Arabian Summer

Arabian Summer, the Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained filly sired by Too Darn Hot, will not be seen in the Blue Diamond Stakes or Golden Slipper as she heads for a well-deserved spell following her gutsy run in the $3 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

While Arabian Summer finished fifth, 5.2 lengths behind the winner Storm Boy, her trainers believe she could have fared even better if not for contact with Highness on the final turn.

Tony McEvoy expressed frustration, telling Racing.com, “She should’ve run third, which was $200,000 extra for the owners, so that was frustrating.”

Arabian Summer is in good health and spirits after the race but experienced some heat stress on the day due to her all-out effort.

With earnings of over $350,000, including a $250,000 victory in the Magic Millions Ballarat 2YO Classic last December, she has certainly earned her rest.
