Nominations For The Championships Close In One Month

Nominations for all ten championship races close in one month for The Championships at Royal Randwick.

Participants aiming their horses at either or both racedays, Saturday April 12 and Saturday April 19 of The Championships, have until 12 noon on Monday February 17 to nominate.

Day 1 of The Championships features the world’s richest mile race, The Star Doncaster Mile worth $3million, The world’s richest open sprint race, the $2.5million Darley TJ Smith and Australia’s richest Derby, the $2million BMW Australian Derby over 2400 metres.

The fourth Championship race on Day 1 of The Championships is the Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes, worth $1million for 2YOs.

Day 2 of The Championships features six Championship races, headlined by the Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 2000m, the richest race of the BMW Sydney Carnival and the world’s richest 2000 metre turf race.

Other Group 1 races supporting the Queen Elizabeth Stakes are the $1million Schweppes Sydney Cup over 3200 metres, the $1million Australian Oaks over 2400 metres and the $1million Queen of the Turf Stakes over 1600 metres for fillies and mares.

Rounding out the ten Championship races across the two Saturdays are the $500,000 Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakes for 3YOs and the $500,000 Group 3 Royal Randwick Stakes for fillies and mares over 1200 metres.

Nominations for any of The Championships races cost $150+gst, made through the Trainers Service Centre (TSC).
