Orb Wins 139th Kentucky Derby

At Churchill Downs, Orb powered to a 2½-length victory on Saturday in the time honoured Kentucky Derby 2000m , giving trainer Shug McGaughey and Rosario their first Derby wins.

Rosario is the hottest jockey in the world today, adding the Derby to his victory aboard Animal Kingdom in the Dubai World Cup in March.

And now that Shug McGaughey has finally won the Kentucky Derby, it’s time for the 62-year-old trainer to go after another race missing from his Hall of Fame resume.

Orb will follow up his win at Churchill Downs by running in the Preakness Stakes on May 18, the second leg of the Triple Crown.

McGaughey was still absorbing what happened on the weekend.

“It means everything to me,” McGaughey said. “I’ve always dreamed of this day and it finally came,

“I can’t wait to get to the Preakness and do it again.”
