Pride Wants Some Rain

All Joe Pride is praying for now is a bit of rain in Brisbane in the next few days.

Pride has gun sprinter and superior wet-tracker Rain Affair engaged in Saturday’s Group 1 $400,000 BTC Cup at Eagle Farm and he says every part of the puzzle has fallen into place so far.

“The horse is super, just super, he’s drawn a beautiful barrier inside Buffering, now all we need is a bit of rain to tick all the boxes,” Pride told Racing Network this morning.

Remarkably Rain Affair is still chasing that elusive first Group 1 win, despite being placed three times at Group 1 level.

He’s the winner of 11 races and more than $1.15 million in stakes, and one of those Group 1 placing’s was his fabulous last start second to now retired three-year-old All Too Hard in the All Aged Stakes.

“He’s due that Group 1, but they don’t give them away and he’s got a chance again on Saturday,” Pride told RN.

Rain Affair has drawn barrier two in the BTC Cup with Hugh Bowman to ride.

There were 11 final acceptors in the BTC Cup this morning in what promises to be a great renewal of the race.
