The Chairman and directors of Scone Race Club have announced the program for the 2013 Emirates Park Scone Cup Carnival.
Australia’s richest country carnival is growing in status and prizemoney with three new Listed races and one new restricted Listed race. These changes will offer an extra 12 horses to be able to walk away with Black Type after the carnival which is of considerable value to the breeding industry. Prizemoney in three Listed races on the program have also risen.
These changes tie in well with the tag line of the Club “Where the racing and breeding industries meet”. Scone is famous for its title of “Australia’s horse capital” and some of the Southern Hemisphere’s greatest thoroughbred nurseries are located in its environs. These studs have shown their support for the carnival with breeding and racing luminaries Emirates Park, Coolmore, Arrowfield and Darley being major sponsors along with long term auctioneer house Inglis.
Noel Leckie, Chairman of Scone Race Club is delighted the success and profile of the carnival continues to build: “We have worked hard with Racing NSW to develop a racing program which appeals to many trainers. Our track manager, Reto Cadalbert, and his team work tirelessly on the track here at Scone to ensure everything will be ready for an excellent two days of racing.
“We look forward to welcoming back past winning trainers, Gai Waterhouse, Peter Snowden, Chris Waller, Anthony Cummings, Tim Martin and the many others who will be vying to win the outstanding prizemoney and priceless Black Type.”
The Fashions on the Field will attract a bevy of followers with over $15,000 in prizes to be won including a trip for 2 to Vanuatu kindly provided by Harvey World Travel in Scone. We will be ably assisted in the organisation of this prestigious event by major sponsors Sharon Lenton Events and Define Style. “City class racing with Country Style” – there is nothing quite like the atmosphere at Scone during the Carnival. Australia’s richest country race meeting with close to $2million in prizemoney, a city class racing surface and country hospitality. It doesn’t get any better than that!
