Samaready continued to please trainer Mick Price in her preparation for a clash with Black Caviar in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes at Flemington on Saturday week, with a nice effort in a jumpout at Caulfield this morning.
”It was the quickest trial of the morning and she was not out to have a smash out, hard trial,” Price said.
The track had been well watered and Price said that her rider Craig Newitt reported that Samaready was not overly at home on the choppy surface.
”Last week’s trial was probably better but she has now had two trials and is ready for the Lightning.”
However while Price believes the Lightning Stakes is the right race first up for Samaready, he is not optimistic about beating Black Caviar.
”Perhaps they should stick some newspaper on her (Black Caviar’s) rump to give everyone something to read while they chase her,” quipped the trainer.
