Shoalhaven Turf Club Autumn Carnival Off and Running

The first race meeting in the Shoalhaven City Turf Club’s Autumn Racing Carnival Trainer’s Premiership turned out to be a closely contested event.  The Telstra Business Centre Nowra, is the sponsor of the Trainer’s Premiership which offers a $2000 cash bonus to the most successful trainer over the three Sunday race meetings which form part of the Autumn Racing Carnival.

After round 1, which was held on Sunday 17 March, Bede Murray leads the premiership table with 26 points, Kerry Parker, who was runner-up last year is on 18 points closely followed by local trainer Terry Robinson and Dianne Poidevin-Laine on 16 points, Robert Price on 14 points and Gwenda Markwell on 12 points.

Lynn Locke, CEO, was very pleased with the support shown by the trainers and said there were another five trainers who are all on 10 points putting them in the running to win the premiership.  As points are awarded to all starters with extra points to placegetters it makes the premiership attractive to all trainers.

The next meeting in the Autumn Racing Carnival will be on Easter Sunday, 31 March with the Terry Harvey Carpet Court/Greenwell Point Hotel 2013 Greenwell Point Cup  being run offering $25,000 in prize money.  This race will be a Class 3 Handicap over 1400m and the Club is expecting a good quality field for the race.

The other feature race on the day will be the Leaves Away 2013 Town Plate a Class 2 Plate (set weights) over 1400m with $17,000 prize money.

We have been able to increase the prize money for both these races due to the sponsorship from Terry Harvey Carpet Court, Nowra and Leaves Away Nowra along with other sponsorship partners involved.

This year the Shoalhaven City Turf Club will be offering an Easter Special with just $5.00 entry to all adults.  Children enter for free.  The Club will have live entertainment, jumping castle, Easter hat prizes, Easter egg hunt and of course a great seven race TAB racing program.
