Solzhenitsyn Getting Ready For Autumn Campaign

Queensland trainer Robert Heathcote has confirmed that Group 1 Toorak Handicap winner Solzhenitsyn would kick off his autumn campaign with three starts in Sydney before returning home to Queensland for the winter carnival.

“He’ll kick off in the Canterbury Stakes over 1300 metres at Rosehill then a fortnight later he’ll run in the George Ryder which will be his final lead-up to the Doncaster,” Heathcote said.

“This will be his third week back in the stable and he looks really well since his spell.”

The Canterbury Stakes will be run on 23rd March.

Following his Sydney campaign, the gelding will return to Queensland and be set for a WFA winter program, which includes the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast on 4th May, a fortnight before the Group 1 Doomben Cup (2020m).
