Star Rolling Will Be Set For The Caulfield Cup

The Peter Morgan-trained Star Rolling, an effortless winner of the Brian Beattie Handicap at Flemington on Saturday will be set for the Caulfield Cup later this year.

A $155,000 yearling purchase at the Magic Millions yearling sale, the Casino Prince 3YO settled third, one off the fence. Jockey Reece Wheeler didn’t release the brake until the 300m mark and Star Rolling cruised to the line winning by two and a half lengths from Spring Cheer with Underestimation third.

“We’ll target him towards the Naturalism,” Morgan said.

(The winner of the Naturalism gains automatic entry to the Caulfield Cup).

“You have to dream about those things. I’m not sure if he’s good enough to get there, but they can only win and each time he wins he keeps improving.

“The horse is in such a good grove. We will give him a little break and target the spring.”

“He does so many things right there is a chance he could step up,” Morgan said.

“The trip is not going to be an issue nor is wet tracks. He is a horse with a lot of upside.”

Wheeler said, “The more pressure put on him the more he found. The improvement in his is pretty vast in a short amount of time.”
