The Australian Turf Club invites racegoers to enjoy another great weekend of racing action this Saturday, 19 January for the Inglis Classic Race Day at Rosehill Gardens.
A day at the races has never been more affordable with the Super Saver ticket and the special summer 2 for 1 General Admission offer, both available for pre-purchase through Ticketek. Children under 18 are welcome and receive free entry if accompanied by an adult.
Patrons on course will have the chance to enter the ‘The Star SMS to WIN’ competition where one lucky winner will walk away with a $300 gift voucher to Sydney’s premier entertainment destination, The Star.
On the track, the day’s feature race, the $250,000 Inglis Classic, has attracted a field of 14 plus four emergencies. Bjorn Baker-trained Fuerza (James McDonald) will be looking to go one better than his first up second place in the Inglis Nursery on 22 December. Fuerza has opened the $3.20 favorite with TAB Fixed Odds.
The two-year-old’s main competition could come from Melbourne-based Direct Charge who has opened at $11. Glyn Schofield will replace Steven Arnold aboard the colt in the 1200m sprint.
Flying Spur sired gelding That’s A Good Idea (Glyn Schofield) from the Mark de Montfort stable will be a strong contender in the Inglis 3YO Bonus. The three-year-old will be looking for his third win in four starts when he faces the starter in the fourth race on the program.
Interest will again focus on local trainer Chris Waller who currently sits at 89.5 Sydney metropolitan winners for the season. Waller has accepted with ten horses in the eight-race card as he strives to break the record of 156.5 wins by 31 July, currently held jointly by Gai Waterhouse and her dad Tommy Smith.
The first race gets underway at 1.10pm and gates open to the public at 11.30am.
