Thousand Guineas winner Commanding Jewel is back in full work and heading towards feature races in the Spring.
Trainer Leon Corstens said on Tuesday Commanding Jewel had been back for several weeks and was coming along very well.
“She’s doing lots of work on the water-walker and swimming, just to muscle her up before we start doing anything serious,” he told RN.
Commanding Jewel won the Group 1 $500,000 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield in her first racing preparation last Spring Carnival, but she was forced to miss the autumn carnival when she wrenched a joint a month into her autumn preparation.
“With these things you never know until you put them under pressure, but at this stage the leg is fine and to my eye the joint looks 100 percent,” Corstens added.
Corstens has not made any serious plans for Commanding Jewel, as he wants to make sure she is sound and healthy before doing so.
“I’m concentrating on getting her right before making any plans, but we already know she’s a Group 1 horse, so it won’t be hard to find the right races if she is fit and well,” he said.
