Two-Year-Olds On Show At Rosehill Garden

The Australian Turf Club has received 88 acceptors for the Cloudy Bay Summer Race Day this Saturday, 12 January at Rosehill Gardens.

A crowd of over 6,000 is expected to enjoy the relaxed and casual atmosphere of Summer Racing in Sydney.

The Super Saver ticket and the special summer 2 for 1 General Admission offer, both available through Ticketek, make for an affordable day at the races. Children under 18 are welcome and receive free entry if accompanied by an adult.

Patrons on course will have the chance to enter the ‘The Star SMS to WIN’ competition where one lucky winner will walk away with a $300 gift voucher to Sydney’s premier entertainment destination, The Star.

Plus, be one of the first 350 racegoers to visit the Triple M ‘carbeque’ to grab a free sausage or steak sandwich. The Triple M rock patrollers and the half car, half barbeque will be located next to the Expo Hall between 11.00am and 1.00pm.

On the track, the eight-race card will feature the Onemorenomore First Crop Plate over 1100m. Chris Waller-trained Calming Influence (Jason Collett) will be a strong contender after coming off a nice trial win at Rosehill Gardens in good time. The two-year-old Commands filly was scratched from her assignment at Warwick Farm on Wednesday to take on Saturday class. She will be up against Charge Forward filly, Dream Forward (Kathy O’Hara) who ran a solid third on debut in the Wyong Magic Millions on 20 December.

Royal Descent (Brenton Avdulla) will be looking to make it two wins from two starts when she faces the starter in the Australian Turf Club Handicap for three-year-old fillies. The Chris Waller-trained daughter of Redoute’s Choice showed her talent in her soft 2.5L win in her first start at the night meeting at Canterbury just prior to Christmas.

Chris Waller takes 11 horses to Rosehill Gardens on Saturday with runners in all races except for the last as he continues his charge towards the record shared by Tommy Smith and Gai Waterhouse for the most Sydney metro winners in a season of 156.5 wins.

The meeting has been given some extra spice with the TAB announcing a $1 million pool guarantee on the BIG6 taking in the last three races from both the Rosehill Gardens and the Gold Coast meetings. The first leg will be race six from Rosehill Gardens, the ‘Become an ATC Member in 2013 Handicap’ at 4.15pm.

The first race gets underway at 12.55pm and gates open to the public at 11.00am. The rail will be in the +6m position and the track is currently sitting at a Good 3 rating. ATC General Manager Racecourses Lindsay Murphy is expecting no change to track conditions come Saturday.
