Young Professionals In Racing Appoints New Director

Young Professionals in Racing has appointed a new director to its board, welcoming industry journalist Brent Zerafa.

Mr Zerafa is currently working as a journalist and presenter with Thoroughbred Vision Network (TVN), having started his career in racing media as a cadet with The Daily Telegraph in 2006.

With a passion and profession in thoroughbred racing, Mr Zerafa was a logical appointment for the YPR board, said chair, Kathryn Thomson: “We are thrilled to have Brent join our organisation as he brings a wealth of knowledge, professionalism and industry expertise to the already-strong board,” Ms Thomson said.

“I am confident his strategic thinking, industry connections and overall enthusiasm for the sport will make Brent an excellent addition to our board.”

Mr Zerafa’s interest in horse racing started at a very young age with his father breeding and racing standardbred’s in Sydney’s western suburbs. While his first introduction to horses was through the family’s standardbred racing and breeding operation, it wasn’t long before Mr Zerafa’s focus shifted to the glamorous thoroughbred industry.

“I’m very much looking forward to working with the dynamic team heading up Young Professionals in Racing ,” Mr Zerafa said. “It has been well documented that racing’s connection with the younger generation is currently experiencing a decline and YPR is a terrific initiative aimed at rectifying this trend.

“Working in the media has provided me with brilliant insights to all aspects of racing and I am excited to now formally showcase the industry via YPR to those who are keen to get involved.”
