Young Professionals In Racing Teams Up With Redoute’s Choice Club

Young Professionals in Racing (YPR) and Redoute’s Choice Club have joined forces under the ‘YPR’ banner to increase the benefits for their members and achieve better overall promotion and status for the younger generation involved in the racing industry.

The two new clubs, both aimed at encouraging the next generation to become more involved in thoroughbred racing, have officially merged effective February 2013.

Young Professionals in Racing chair, Kathryn Thomson, said this is a fabulous union which will allow both clubs’ members to engage in “money-can’t-buy experiences” associated with the thoroughbred racing and breeding industries.

“Having the Redoute’s Choice Club team on board also allows us to present a comprehensive event program that will make YPR membership essential for any young professional looking to develop their knowledge and have more fun with racing,” Ms Thomson said.

Redoute’s Choice Club was founded in early 2012 by Arrowfield Stud’s Marketing and Projects manager, Vicky Leonard, Sky Racing producer Gus Roland and Gai Waterhouse Racing manager, Bruce Slade, who are all dedicated and enthusiastic professionals with established careers in racing.

Ms Leonard said the Redoute’s Choice Club grew quickly with a concept that was always going to be highly successful.

“It makes sense for two such similar groups to work together and build on the good work that has been done to further our industry for young people’s benefit,” she said.

“Our strength is access to information, industry people and events like trackwork, sales and stallion parades, and we will continue to provide all of those special contacts and experiences for YPR members.”

Racing NSW Chief Executive, Peter V’landys, said the beauty of YPR is that it offers ‘a visible and attractive gateway’ to the broader thoroughbred industry for young people that might otherwise never discover it.

“It’s an excellent initiative we’re pleased to support and the merger with the Redoute’s Choice Club will only increase both groups’ effectiveness,” Mr V’landys said.

YPR is offering an exciting series of unique events centred around the Sydney Autumn Carnival, including racedays, fashion events, a punting preview prior to the Golden Slipper, the opportunity to attend the prestigious Golden Slipper Barrier Draw, an evening at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sales, Hunter Valley stud tours and more.
