103 nominations were received for Saturday’s Australian Turf Club meeting at Warwick Farm.
Featuring two races for two-year-old horses, over 1400m and 1000m, Saturday’s meeting will continue to accommodate juvenile horses.
Winner of both starts so far, Gai Waterhouse’s Pitcrew – a two-year-old by Sebring, will have a chance at achieving a hat-trick of wins.
The spotted nosed juvenile broke through on debut at Canterbury in early June, winning a maiden event by 2-1/4 lengths and then consolidated the win with another impressive victory, this time at the postponed ATC Winter Cup meeting with 1-1/4 length win.
Pitcrew is one of 13 horses nommed for the 1400m event while Northern Rivers trainer Neil Godbolt will bring classy two-year-old Yupik down from Port Macquarie to contest the race over 1000m.
Yupik, amongst the 15 nominations for the 2YO 1000m Handicap, is a filly by Al Samer and has four wins and a second place from five starts with a debut at Coffs Harbour resulting in a win by 4-1/4 lengths over the favourite.
Yupik’s most recent win came out of the XXXX Gold July Racing Carnival on Thursday at Grafton when she won a Class 3 Handicap.
Of the 103 nominations, leading trainer Chris Waller may take 13 horses to Warwick Farm in a bid to extend his Sydney training record.
On the Provincial circuit Newcastle again has strong nominations for Saturday. Whilst short of the 300+ nominations last week that resulted in 10 races being held, a healthy 158 have been nominated for this Saturday’s racing at Broadmeadow.
