Reset On The Rise

A two state double of new stakes-winners and the favourite for the Group I MVRC Cox Plate next Saturday has Darley quiet achiever Reset well placed for another big spring.

Three-year-old Reset gelding Disposition travelled wide in the run, but pounced entering the home straight to claim the Listed Belgravia Stakes over 1200m at Ascot in a matter of strides and maintain his unbeaten record.

Settling just beyond mid-field, directly behind the race favourite who was also racing wide, the Grant Williams-trained gelding was once again too classy, taking the race by three lengths eased down.

Bred by Peters Investments Pty Ltd, Disposition is the first foal from the Testa Rossa mare Test Case, a half-sister the G3 winner Local Legend, both being daughters of the G1 Goodwood winner Spectrum. Test Case’s current two-year-old, also by Reset, has been named High Success and is yet unraced.

After the earlier victory of three-year-old filly Set Square in the Listed Ethereal Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield, Reset’s tally of Stakes winners now stands at 27, with last weekend’s G1 Caulfield Stakes winner Fawkner set to start the race favourite in next Saturday’s G1 W.S. Cox Plate, and if successful, will join Reset’s daughter Pinker Pinker as a winner of Australasia’s weight for age championship.

Reset is standing the current season at a fee of $16,500 (inc. GST) at Darley’s Victorian base Northwood Park.
