Winners For 2019 Carrington Stakes Day

The Carrington Stakes meeting will be held at Royal Randwick this Saturday. The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with fine and warm weather in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Randwick will be racing on a Good track on raceday.

Top weight Star Fall is the class horse in the 2019 Membership Handicap (Sydney Race 3, 1100m). The 3YO has won 4 of his 6 career starts including 3 from 3 this campaign. This Zoustar colt is pretty much bomb-proof as he can lead or sit off the pace and he can handle any track conditions. Last start, he won at this track over 1000m and pretty much blown the field away. Regular rider Linda Meech knows the horse well and will once again be on board. From barrier 4, Meech will go forward and sit outside Syd’s Footprints and Star Fall will be trying to make it four straight wins.

Speedster Sei Stella should have no problem handling the extra trip in the TAB.com.au Handicap (Sydney Race 6, 1100m). The Matthew Dale-trained mare won back-to-back Highway Handicap races at Randwick before a close 2nd behind Heart Conquered last start on the 5th January. The 4YO obviously likes Randwick as she has won both starts at the track and regular rider Jay Ford will be aboard the mare on Saturday. From barrier 9, Ford will go straight to the lead and run them ragged.

Godolphin gelding Flow has conditions to suit in the Carrington Stakes (Sydney Race 7, 1400m). Flow won all his 5 career starts over Saturday’s trip of 1400m and he has also won at Randwick previously. The 5YO has a good 2nd up record with 2 wins and 2 placings from 5 attempts. With 4 weeks between runs, James Cummings had sent Flow for a 1030m trial 10 days ago where he duly won, with race Jockey Hugh Bowman on board. With fairly good pace in the race, Bowman should be able to slot in somewhere mid-field from barrier 10 and Flow will be full of running in the straight.
