Winners For 2019 Civic Stakes Day

The Civic Stakes meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday. The course proper was rated a Heavy 9 on Thursday and with light showers forecast for Sydney over the next couple of days, Rosehill is highly likely to remain in the Heavy range on raceday.

Team Snowden-trained My Demetra can make it a hat-trick of wins this preparation in the Winter Racing Handicap (Sydney Race 3, 1400m). This 3YO filly has won 2 from 2 so far this campaign. She broke her maiden status over 1300m at Kembla on 1st June before running away in a class 1 victory over Saturday’s distance leading from start to finish. My Demetra can handle any track conditions and she has only been allotted with 54kg. With a fair pace in the race, Christian Reith will park just behind the speed from barrier 7 and My Demetra will be full of running in the straight.

Social Element has been racing over hurdles in his last two starts with a win & a 2nd and Team Waterhouse decides to try him over the flat again in the Stayer’s Cup (Sydney Race 5, 3200m). This Savabeel gelding has a good record in the wet and the 3200m will not present any problem. With only 54kg, Tim Clark will go to the lead from gate 11 and Social Element will be full of running in the Heavy condition and he’ll be hard to catch.

James Cummings’ stable has been on fire and Godolphin-owned Organza can take out the Civic Stakes on Saturday (Sydney Race 7 1350m). The 4YO has been mighty consistent having run 3 placings from 3 starts this preparation. This mare can handle any track conditions and she has only been asked to carry 53kg. Organza also has a great record over Saturday’s distance as she has never missed a place with 3 wins and 6 placings from 9 attempts at the trip. From barrier 8, Glyn Schofield will settle just behind the leading bunch and with her good turn-of-foot and her light weight, Organza will be right there at the finish.
