Winners For 2020 Coolmore Classic Day

The Coolmore Classic meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday. The course proper was rated a Soft 7 on Thursday and with mainly fine weather in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Rosehill will border on Good/Soft condition on raceday.

After running four consecutive seconds, Stellar Pauline is ready to breakthrough for her first career victory in the Magic Night Stakes (Sydney Race 3, 1200m). After finishing 2nd in the Gimcrack Stakes on debut, Stellar Pauline was then racing against the colts and was beaten by stablemate AIm on 21st December at Randwick. She then finished runner-up in the Gold Coast MM 2YO Classic. She took up the running last start in the Sweet Embrace Stakes before being overhaul by Hungry Heart late in the straight. Kerrin McEvoy will take a sit this time on the filly from barrier 3 and Stellar Pauline is expected to finish off strongly.

First up victor Greyworm can continue his winning way in the Maurice McCarten Stakes (Sydney Race 4, 1100m). This Team Hawkes-trained 5YO won his two starts before his spell beating good horses like Quackerjack and Luvaluva. And the gelding returned in good order winning 1st up over Saturday’s track and trip easily. Greyworm likes Rosehill having won twice from 3 starts at the venue and he can handle any track conditions. Brenton Avdulla will return to the saddle on Saturday and from barrier 7, Avdulla will take Greyworm straight to the front and will try to run them ragged.

Sylvia’s Mother is going to make it three wins on the trot by taking out the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (Sydney Race 7, 1500m). This 4YO mare is a winner having won 7 races from 11 career starts and she has stepped up to another level this campaign winning the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes 1st up on 8th February and then she took out the Group 3 Tressady Stakes three weeks later. Sylvia’s Mother should peak on Saturday being 3rd up in the Coolmore. Tommy Berry should receive a cushy run settling just behind likely leaders Sweet Deal and Con Te Partiro and Sylvia’s Mother is the one they all have to beat.
