Winners For The 2015 Starlight Stakes Day

This Saturday’s Sydney meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens. The course proper was rated a Good 3 and with fine weather forecast for Sydney leading up to the weekend, Rosehill will be racing on a Good track on raceday.

The Bjorn Baker-trained Geneteau can turn the table on Rafha’s Choice in the opening event at Rosehill (Sydney Race 1, 1100m). In her debut, Geneteau raced very greenly and was laying out before the turn, eventually got nosed out by Rafha’s Choice over 900m two weeks ago. With race experience under her belt and the stepping up to 1100m, she’ll certainly improve on Saturday. From the inside barrier, Jason Collett will take Geneteau straight to the lead and she will be the one they all have to catch.

The combination of Chris Waller and James McDonald has a great strike rate and that can continue with Telepathic in the Tyreel Stud ATC Cup (Sydney Race 2, 2000m). This 5YO has slowly worked up in distance culminating with a last start victory at Rosehill over 1500m. The Mossman mare has been carrying big weights in her three starts this preparation and she will drop significantly in weight to only 54kg tomorrow. Even though she is up to Listed company, she remains to be the horse to beat.

The ever consistent Dublin Lass can take out the feature race of the day, the Starlight Stakes (Sydney Race 5, 1100m). The Team Snowden-trained mare performed admirably 1st up in the Group 3 Mumm Stakes at Flemington on a Heavy track. Back to firmer footing on Saturday will certainly help as 5 of her 6 career victories were on Good tracks. Though the 1100m Rosehill course normally favours leaders, it’s only a small field with 8 runners in this year’s Starlight Stakes and Dublin Lass has a terrific turn of foot so she should have no problem in running over the top of this field.

Team Snowden can make it back-to-back race win with Typhoon Jolie in the Goldners Horse Transport Handicap (Sydney Race 6, 1200m). The Shamardal 4YO won brilliantly 1st up over this track & trip. Matter of fact, Typhoon Jolie is unbeaten at Rosehill winning all her 3 starts at the venue. She also has a good 2nd up record winning twice and placing once from 3 attempts. From barrier 3, Joshua Parr will sit outside the likely leader Hebden and Typhoon Jolie could run away from the field in the straight.
