Dowdstown Charlie Heading To Royal Randwick On Saturday

Tough stayer Dowdstown Charlie heads to Royal Randwick taking his place in race 5 Ron Finemore Transport Handicap over 2400m.

The Myboycharlie gelding has continued to please the team since his last start effort when he found the heavy 10 conditions not to his liking a fortnight ago with the stable hopeful of an improved performance returning to a firmer track and stepping out to the 2400m for the first time this prep.

“Dowdstown Charlie is very well. He is nice and fit from recent racing and is ready for the 2400m after five runs under his belt. Whilst his form may suggest that he likes heavy tracks however he certainly doesn’t want it too wet and does raced best when the sting is taken out of the ground, currently the track is rated a soft 6 which is more to his liking along with the drop-in weight to the limit,” added Kim (Waugh).

Jay Ford takes over the reins of Dowdstown Charlie, with the pair jumping from barrier 4.
