Robert and Luke Price are still looking for their first winner at their new home and believe Princess Kashema could get the job done at Kembla Grange on Saturday.
After finally getting their training partnership approved, Princess Kashema was the first winner from the Kembla yard when she won at Moruya resuming on 2 January.
Luke Price considered a return to Moruya on Monday but has instead opted for the Dale & Therese Oliver 20 Years Benchmark 65 Handicap on their home track on Saturday.
“She did a good job at Moruya and has now won three from 10 and we think she is up to better things. She can run at home and not travel,” Price said.
“She worked great on Tuesday morning and Brock [Ryan who will ride on Saturday] is very happy with her. We are confident she will run well.
“She goes from carrying 59kg at Moruya to 52.5kg on Saturday and it looks a good race for her.
“We have had a couple of wins away from the Kembla stable but you want to win on your home track and it is not really home until you do it.”
Princess Kashema wasn’t the first winner for the Kembla yard with Smokey Fortune taking that honour for Luke before the partnership was approved.
“It is something I have over dad but we are team and have been for a long time,” he said.
There is interesting new inclusion to the Gwenda Markwell stable in the benchmark 65 with Make A Mark. The gelding has been moved down south from Team Hawkes.
“Our mare will make her own luck and is always improving and still on her way up,” Price said. “She is getting better all the time.”
