Summary Of Our Trainers’ Tips For Missile Stakes Day (Sat, 8th Aug)

From Nathan Doyle

Horse: Royal Banquet
Message
: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 2, Everest Carnival On Sale Hcp) Royal Banquet has won four of his five starts and, ominously, has only come on from his five length romp at Warwick Farm on July 29. He keeps improving every time you step him out at trackwork or in a run. He’s taken improvement from Warwick Farm again, believe it or not, but he probably needed to improve from Warwick Farm to get the job done again. All he can do is win and let’s be honest in his three wins this preparation he’s never been really tested or had something come at him. Until that day comes you don’t really know. Tom Sherry’s 3kg claim will bring Royal Banquet in with 54.5kg and the likely speed map of the race will suit the horse.

From Richard & Michael Freedman

Horse: Prime Star
Message
: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 6, Schweppes Rosebud) The horse relished a heavy track to win the rich Inglis Millennium at Warwick Farm in February. The track he won on at Warwick Farm was very heavy so that’s the part of it that would be pretty comfortable. He had to have a bit of surgery after his win in the Millennium and have a knee cleaned up. But he had a nice long spell after that and a nice long grounding to get ready to run first up. He’s had two trials and I’ve been very happy with both of them.

Horse: Senatorial
Message
: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 3, TAB Highway Plate) Kerrin McEvoy rides Senatorial with the 59kg topweight following an impressive last start Taree win with 59.5kg. A real big win against track bias with weight and we’d set him for this Highway this prep. And look, he’s a three-race winner against some opposition just out of maiden grade. We’re fitter third-up, as good as I’ve ever had him. We know he’ll be strong the last 150 metres and he’ll get through any going. We need tempo, it’s usually pretty genuine in these. We’ll probably be midfield but Kerrin will be across all of that.

Horse: Boom Queen
Message
: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 4, DeBortoli Wines Hcp) Boom Queen can run a race at massive odds in the Bortoli Wines BM 88 (1200m). An afterthought – it’s a solid city form race but she’s a genuine mare, racing well this time in, been carrying around the 60kg and drops 10kg with the claim. So why not give yourself a sight with another one if you’re coming all this way? There wasn’t much suitable for her back home. And we rarely bring ours to town.
