Summary Of Our Trainers’ Tips For Today’s Racing (Sat, 12th Oct)

From Team Snowden

Horse: Famous
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 4, Stan Fox Stakes) Famous comes off a Class 1 win at Wyong on September 24 and he rises in class with the confidence up. He’s a little bit of a question mark at 1500m but those runs were to give him some confidence and teach him to race. He deserves a crack at a stakes race and this is the perfect chance.

Horse: Cosmic Force
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 5, Roman Consul Stakes) He gets through either (wet or dry), he has the ability to handle both tracks. I don’t think it’s a big advantage but I guess it is if you can’t handle it. Fitness just got him late when resumed with a close 2nd in the Heritage Stakes. It would have been good to win but he wasn’t beaten far and he just punctured the last 50m. He’s fitter for that run and it should stand him in good stead. I think he can win on Saturday but he will be even better with the run under his belt.

Horse: Military Zone
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 8, Silver Eagle) Military Zone resumed in Melbourne, running 7th in the Testa Rossa two weeks ago, I thought he could chase the speed and still run on but it was a very fast run race. He was probably three lengths closer than he should have been early and it took a bit of the finish out of him. He held his ground but he is a better horse ridden quiet. The weather will also be a factor and the line will be drawn at a soft 7 for Military Zone.

Horse: Just Thinkin’
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 7, Spring Champion Stakes) Expects Just Thinkin’ to take enormous benefit from his Gloaming Stakes effort. There was plenty of pressure on in that race from the outset and I’d like to think that’s a run that well and truly sets him up for what’s always going to be a tough test for them over the Randwick 2000 metres. That should have him well conditioned and seasoned. We’ve made some small gear changes. We’ve put the blinkers on which we’ve kept up our sleeve for a while and hopefully that’s to his benefit on Saturday. He’s had some exposure through trials (on wet ground) and the rest of his family has performed very well in heavy conditions.

From Mark Newnham

Horse: Shadow Hero
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race , Spring Champion Stakes) Shadow Hero was starting off over 1500m in the Dulcify Stakes in which he finished 3rd behind Just Thinkin’ and Subedar. He stepped up to 1800m to win the Gloaming and goes up another 200m in the Spring Champion on his way to the 2500m of the Victoria Derby. He always showed he was a natural stayer to me so I have always trained him that way. I started him off over 1400 metres at two, straight to a mile in stakes grade which he won, then a Group One the J J Atkins at his third start. He’s had the right build-up again.
