Winx Set For Hot Rosehill Trial

Australia’s champion racehorse Winx won’t be having a soft return to public life when she trials at Rosehill next Tuesday with her trainer Chris Waller lining her up against several of his star imports.

Winx, a winner of her past 13 starts, will take on the likes of stablemates Arod, Endless Drama and Kinema in the 900m inside grass trial.

Godolphin has chosen the trial for their Group 1 performers Allergic and Ghisoni.

Winx is set to race first-up in the Group 2 $250,000 Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on February 11 before to Group 1 level in the Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Randwick two weeks later.

The dual Cox Plate champion is then expected to contest the $1million George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on March 18 before her campaign is completed in the $4million Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on April 8.

Victory in all four races will not quite bring the unbeaten Black Caviar’s record of 25 consecutive wins into focus, but she will close in on Makybe Diva’s Australasian prizemoney record of $14.52 million as four wins would take her earnings to about $12.4million.

The full trial field, to be run at 8:15am Tuesday:
