Winners For Saturday’s Rosehill Meeting (Sat, 17th Jun)

Sydney Saturday’s meeting will be held at Rosehill this weekend. The course proper was rated a Heavy 9 on Thursday and with further showers forecast for Sydney leading up to the weekend, it’s likely that Rosehill will be racing on a Heavy track on raceday.

Team Snowden-trained Bull Market is a last start winner and he can continue his winning way in the opening event at Rosehill (Sydney Race 1, 1350m). The Written Tycoon colt won well over 1300m 1st up three weeks ago and he is primed to run a strong 1350m 2nd up. The in-form Kerrin McEvoy will be aboard and as Bull Market is out of a Zabeel mare, he should be able to handle the anticipated Heavy condition.

Matthew Dunn is an expert in taking out these Highway Handicaps and he has got a prime candidate for another Highway race on Saturday (Sydney Race 3, 1500m). The 3YO Zamex won a class 2 Highway Handicap at this venue 2 weeks ago and stepping up an extra 100m should not be a problem. Zamex is expected to drop back in the field so barrier 13 should not be a disadvantage especially on a Heavy track. Last start winning jockey Tye Angland will once again be aboard the gelding and Zamex is set to give Dunn another Highway Handicap success.

Thaad has slowly worked his way up in distance and the 3YO will be ready for the 1800m on Saturday (Sydney Race 8, 1800m). The Team Hawkes-trained gelding broke his maiden on a Heavy track so the wet condition on Saturday will suit. Interesting gear changes with Ear Muffs and Winkers going on Thaad to help him concentrate during a race. And it’s a good sign with Tommy Berry sticking with the 3YO. Currently at $8.50 in the fixed odds market, Thaad represents a good value bet.
