Pericles (Street Boss) continued his rise through the ranks with an impressive victory in the G2 Tramway Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 2 September.
A winner of the G2 Autumn Stakes at Sandown in February, Pericles returned from a spell to win at Rosehill two weeks ago before tackling Saturday’s 1,400m G2 feature.
Champion apprentice Zac Lloyd took the four-year-old straight to the lead and they dictated the pace to the home turn.
When Lloyd asked Pericles for a finishing effort in the straight, the gelding responded to kick clear to beat Skyman and the fast-finishing Hope In Your Heart.
Out of the English mare Accessories, Pericles has now won four races and been placed four times from 11 starts for prize money of $821,615.
Accessories has been a blue hen broodmare, the dam of G1 winners Epaulette and Helmet and Stakes winners Pearls and Bullbars. The mare also has a two-year-old colt (Lavalier) by Microphone and visited Ghaiyyath (IRE) last October.
Street Boss is the sire of recently retired Australian champion galloper Anamoe and now has 63 Stakes-race winners of 131 Stakes races worldwide.
Street Boss leads the stallion roster at Darley’s Northwood Park property in Victoria for a service fee of $66,000, including GST.
