Winners For 2021 Winter Challenge Day

The Winter Challenge meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday (24th Jul). The course proper was rated a Soft 6 on Thursday and with fine weather in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Rosehill will border on Good/Soft condition on raceday.

Military Expert from the Annabel Neasham yard will set punters on the winning way in the opening event at Rosehill (Sydney Race 1, 1200m). The 2YO was narrowly beaten on debut by King Of Sparta on the Kensington track earlier this month. Neasham has reported that the race experience has really help the colt and he has muscled up since that run. Tommy Berry will once again be on board and he will go forward to the lead. Military Expert is the one they all have to catch.

The Les Bridge-trained All Time Legend looks the horse to beat in the July Sprint (Sydney Race 4, 1100m). The Zoustar gelding is resuming on Saturday on the back of a quiet 1050m trial on 9th July. The 4YO has a good strike rate winning five of his nine career starts and he can handle any track conditions. He also has a good fresh record winning two of his three first-up runs so expect him to sprint well fresh over 1100m. Les Bridge is indicating that Kerrin McEvoy will ride the horse quiet and All Time Legend will fly down the middle of the track.

John O’Shea-trained Kirwan’s Lane is peaking in the Winter Challenge (Sydney Race 7, 1500m). The 4YO has been pretty consistent this campaign winning a Benchmark 88 handicap over this track and trip three starts back. Kirwan’s Lane is rock hard fit being 5th up on Saturday. Though he was only beaten a bit over one and a half lengths last start at Flemington, there’s no doubt the gelding raced better the Sydney way of going. The drying track will also suit. From barrier 4, Brenton Avdulla will settle mid-field with a cosy run and Kirwan’s Lane will finish strongly in the run home.
