Winners For 2021 Winter Cup Day

The Winter Cup meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday (5th June). The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with light showers forecast for Sydney over the next couple of days, Rosehill is likely to race on a slightly Soft track on raceday.

Brenton Avdulla can team up with Chris Waller to take out the Bisley Workwear Hcp with Wicklow (Sydney Race 3, 1800m). The import had won well over the mile at Newcastle last start, coming from last to win by a length. Stepping up to 1800m will definitely suit and he handles any track conditions. Avdulla will let the gelding find his feet at the rear in transit and Wicklow will fly down the straight and over-power this field.

The Team Ryan & Alexiou-trained Rammstein gets his chance to breakthrough for a win this campaign in the ACY Securities Handicap (Sydney Race 5, 1200m). This 4YO has been very consistent and he handles both wet and dry. He also has a pretty good record over six furlong. After Jean Van Overmeire’s 1.5kg claim, Rammstein will only be carrying 54.5kg. Beautifully drawn in barrier 3, Van Overmeire will drive the gelding straight to the lead and Rammstein will run his oppositions ragged.

Knights Order has worked his way up in fitness and in distance and he gets his chance to greet the judge in the Winter Cup (Sydney Race 7, 2400m). The lightly raced 6YO gelding had won his only start over 2400m when he took out the City Tatts Cup at Randwick last October. After two 2000m runs this campaign, Knights Order is ready to step up in trip and he can handle the Soft condition. Drawn nicely in barrier 2, Tim Clark will box seat behind likely leader Inverloch with a cosy run and Knights Order could prove hard to catch.
