This Saturday’s Sydney meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens (5th December). The course proper was rated a Soft 5 on Thursday and with light showers forecast for Sydney over the next couple of days, Rosehill is likely to border on Good/Soft condition on raceday.
Two weeks ago, Instant Attraction won over this track and trip and the mare can make it back-to-back victory at Rosehill on Saturday (Sydney Race 2, 1500m). This John O’Shea-trained 4YO won well first-up at Warwick Farm over 1400m before finishing 5th at Kensington on 28th October. And last start, Instant Attraction sprinted well (34.11secs) to take out the BM72 handicap. Instant Attraction is rock hard fit and champion hoop Hugh Bowman will be on board. Without much pace in the race, Bowman is likely to go forward and sit just behind the leaders and Instant Attraction could be hard to run down.
Enchanted Heart looks the horse to beat in the Iron Jack Handicap (Sydney Race 5, 1400m). This 4YO has been in good form winning twice with a 2nd in her last three starts. And when a mare is in form, she stays in form. Enchanted Heart has an imposing record at 1400m with 4 wins and 2 placings from 8 starts at the trip. Up in class but she has only been allotted with 55.5kg. Nicely drawn in barrier 6 and the in-form Jason Collett will be the new rider. With a fair bit of pace in the race, Collett will slot in somewhere mid-field and Enchanted Heart will be finishing off the race powerfully.
Mark Newnham and in-form apprentice Tom Sherry can combine with Gone Bye to take out the Sky Racing Active Handicap (Sydney Race 6, 2000m). This 4YO has slowly worked his way up to a suitable distance. Sherry rode a good race last start over 1900m at Canterbury leading from start to finish. With Sherry’s 2kg claim, Gone Bye will be carrying 57.5kg and that could well be a winning weight for the gelding. From barrier 7, Sherry will go straight to the front to control the pace and Gone Bye could prove hard to catch.
