Western Sydney Clubs Join At Rosehill Gardens (Saturday, 4th Dec)

Australian Turf Club joins with one of its longest-running partners in Western Sydney this Saturday for Clubs NSW Western Metropolitan Raceday at Rosehill Gardens.

Saturday’s 10-race card celebrates a 30-year anniversary at Rosehill Gardens where Clubs NSW Western Metropolitan Region will again raise funds for its charity partner, Little Wings.

Since starting the annual raceday in 1990, Clubs NSW Western Metropolitan Region has raised almost $1.5 million for a range of charities.

Little Wings – which has been the official charity partner since 2018 – flies children from remote areas across NSW to Westmead Hospital for repeat treatment. During COVID lockdown Little Wings also flew doctors directly to young patients in NSW rural areas.

A group of Western Sydney Clubs has taken naming rights to races on Saturday including Cabra-Vale Diggers, Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL, Guildford Leagues, Campbelltown Catholic Club, Cabra Bowls, Dooleys, Bankstown Sports Club and Smithfield RSL.

Clubs NSW Western Metropolitan Region President Bill Treloar said the annual charity racedays had so far raised $133,000 for Little Wings.

“Our Clubs started this raceday in 1990 to give something back to local communities and at that first event for the SES we raised enough money to buy one chainsaw,” Mr Treloar said.

“Since those days with the SES we have also partnered with a range of charities such as the Volunteer Rescue Association in rural NSW before linking now with Little Wings.

“All of these racedays have raised around $1.5 million for charities and local communities and after unfortunately having to cancel last year due to COVID we are delighted to be back at Rosehill Gardens to celebrate our 30th charity raceday.”
